Ladies! Ladies! Ladies!

How ya doin Cruisers? Welcome back and thank you for your continued support.  We will be talking about females in music, TV, and comics.  I know my title sounds like something you would see on a strip club sign but no strippers here. Sorry.

Halsey- Hopeless Fountain Kingdom

I was actually looking forward to listening to this album because I liked her last album.  The introduction began and it was the prologue to Romeo and Juliet.  I have to say, I almost cut off the album.  But then I thought,. “Maybe this reference to high school literature means something”.  I thought that it was a hint to a concept album where the songs told some sort of story.  It wasn’t.  The album is some introspective thing about feeling alone or something.  As far as introspective albums go, I’ve heard better.

So I heard her voice on a Sean Paul song and I liked her sound.  So I decided to give her album a shot.  I have to say, I really liked it.  She sings with a great deal of soul.  I especially liked “Thinking Bout You” and “Garden”.  I think the best way to describe the album is a dynamic, interesting voice over some electronic dancehall-type beats.  I’m not quite sure that she will become that popular in America.  I think she will go the way of Emile Sande, great voice, great music, popular in the UK, but popular with only a small group in the U.S.

Jennifer Blood-2012

I just recently began reading the Kill Bill of comics, Jennifer Blood.  Originally published in 2012, it is the story of a woman who is a housewife by day, and a vengeance-seeking killing machine at night. From guns to bombs, to poisons, she finds various ways of killing the people that killed her parents.  And she does this right under the noses of her straight-laced husband and kids.  Honestly, I’m surprised she hasn’t collapsed from exhaustion, this is one busy woman!  But she is always one mistake away from getting caught and there have been quite a few close calls.   The comic is written by the same guy who wrote Preacher, Garth Ennis.  I’m still reading the comic and I’m looking forward to seeing what is going to happen.

Couch Watchin’

Orange Is The New Black

Did anyone see that first episode…fantastic!!! Things get CRAZY up in the ladies pen!!!  I didn’t binge watch because I have a lot of things to do, but I did finish that first episode.  OITNB has some of the best writing and acting out there.  I do not want to talk too much about the show because spoilers.  There’s a life lesson in the show as well, underwear is important.

Another great show.  I finished the first season on the ‘Flix and it was nonstop suspense.  There is so much betrayal in this show, I started not to trust myself.  I’m giving my dog the side-eye as we speak.  The things the main character (Theresa Mendoza) has to go through to survive is ridiculous.  Again..fantastic writing and fantastic acting.

Dragon Ball Super

THE TOURNAMENT HAS BEGUN!!!  Just kidding.  Still nothing.

This post went out later than I had hoped but next time…

A special E3 Couch Cruisin’ where I discuss the new XBox X, Bethesda is gonna Fallout 4 the crap out of us, why Nintendo is about to put me in bankruptcy, and a whole bunch more.

Keep cruisin!!!!

  1. Queen of the South is my favorite. I saw the original in Spanish and even though I LOVE Kate del Castillo (The original Teresa Mendoza) Alice Braga brings her own authenticity to this new version of The Queen of the South. One thing I absolutely LOVE about this English version is definitely the originality of the script. It is totally different from the Spanish version however manages to keep some autheticness. I’m definitely stoked on the cameo appearance by Rafael Amaya (1. My babby daddy; 2. The original Güero) and almost lost my mind when he appeared as El Señor de los Cielos (Lord of the Skies; character he’s been portraying for Telemundo) during the end of the first season. Queen of the South is definitely a show worth watching because of the drama, action, and of course hot & sexual characters. A definite must watch! 🙂
