Hi everybody! Welcome to Anime Thursday. I hope you enjoyed my thoughts on Thor: The Dark World for MC Tuesday. I did go see Black Panther and it is amazing! I can’t wait to discuss it in April. In the meantime, let’s talk anime.
Have you ever had someone in your life you just did not bother? They are not mean or a bully, they are just a little unhinged and extremely dangerous. We see these types of anime characters frequently. So, I decided to talk about a few of my favorite anime characters who you should leave alone. People love to provoke these five in one way or another. The enemy often winds up paying for that transgression. Let’s start in the world of Dragon Ball.
1. Goku- Dargon Ball
Goku is an interesting case. He’s a nice enough dude. He loves to train and loves to fight. He wants to be the strongest warrior in the world and will fight anyone to become stronger. But, people need to leave him alone. It’s not because if he gets angry he’ll destroy them. It’s because he gets what I call “fight boners”. The stronger the opponent, the more excited this man becomes. I guess because he is a Saiyan, fighting is the ultimate aphrodisiac. It’s a little weird if you ask me and I’d stay far away from him.
2. Mob-Mob Psycho 100
Of everyone on this list, I probably identify with Mob the most. I understand trying to keep your emotions under control, otherwise, you become some sort of scary rage monster that will destroy everything in its path. I also understand the loyalty he has for his loved ones, namely his brother. I don’t understand how people see the boy’s abilities and still want to mess with his family. I must’ve said “leave Mob alone” during every episode.
3. Saitama- One Punch Man
Do you know what is truly frightening about Saitama? He will punch you into the next century and seem completely unbothered by it. I don’t know which is worse, Goku’s fight boner, or Saitama’s indifference. I think that would make me angrier than the actual fight, him just sauntering around not caring. But that makes him doubly dangerous because it appears that he has nothing to lose.
4. Gon- Hunter x Hunter
There are a few reasons why you should not mess with Gon Freecs. First, he is adorable. He’s the bright-eyed kid that is excited about the prospects of meeting his father. Second, he has a strong team. Killua is an assassin, Bisky goes from little girl to steroid freak, and crazy Hisoka will probably rip your heart out if you mess with his crush. The third reason is that he will kill himself just to kill you if you mess with his friends, and it won’t be pretty.
I don’t think I would want to mess with someone who has been through the truly sick things Guts has endured. Guts watched his friends die and his love assaulted at the hands of someone he respected. The dude has demons chasing him and he lost an arm. Someone like that is a heartbeat away from cannibalism. I would not want to be there when he truly goes berserk.
Well, there you have it. If you have seen Black Panther, I highly encourage you to see it. The theater I went to has reclining seats, so I was super comfortable. At any rate, I will see you this Sunday for episodes 7 and 8 of I’m Mita, Your Housekeeper.
